SHAW LAW FIRM FEES

Legal fees are billed by the hour.  Mr. Shaw bills $300 per hour for his services and requires a $6,000 initial retainer to begin all cases.  Our fee policies include:   

Signed Retainer Agreement - First, we will require a signed, written retainer agreement from you before beginning any legal services on your behalf. 

Initial Retainer -  We will require a retainer fee to begin work.  The initial retainer we generally require is $6,000 to start a case.  We then bill our time against that retainer at a rate of $300 per hour and any amounts left over after we have completed the case will be immediately refunded to you.  Many matters can be handled for $6,000 or less.  Other matters may require more extensive work.  

Possible Additional Retainer(s) - You will receive a monthly statement at the beginning of each month showing your Trust Account balance and if needed, you may receive a notice for submission of an additional retainer if your case requires more extensive work.  It is our policy to only work on cases where there are funds in our Trust Account.

Attorney Fees Award - Depending on the facts and circumstances of your case we will ask the court to order your spouse to pay your attorney's fees and expenses.  However, it is not guaranteed that such an award will be forthcoming.  We will need our fees to be paid on a timely basis and any award for attorney fees by the court will be reimbursement directly to you for fees you've paid in advance to the Shaw Law Firm.

We accept payment via VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and TeleCheck as well as by cash or check.

In the end we all need to be paid for our work and the need for a retainer and/or other security to insure payment of fees is a necessary fact of life for any attorney that wants to stay in business.
